Energy management for zero-emissions buildings

Avoiding the disproportionate consumption of energy and greenhouse gas and other polluting emissions in buildings is the goal of the DEPOLIGEN Project.

Researchers in USAL’s Department of Botany and Plant Physiology  carried out a project called “DEPOLIGEN” as part of the call from Innpacto 2010 aimed at developing technologies for making buildings, districts and residential neighbourhoods with zero emissions, in addition to avoiding an excessive increase in energy consumption and greenhouse gas and other polluting emissions.

As pointed out in the report published in La Gaceta, the local newspaper, the research team, directed by Professor José Sánchez Sánchez, has developed new systems for reducing energy demand in buildings, new systems of polygeneration that put high efficiency and low impact systems together with renewable energies.

The continuity of the project is currently guaranteed by “SMARTZA”, intended to improve on the results of the initial project.
