Experts analyse the social studies of science and innovation

The University of Salamanca hosted the CTS-I OEI Conference in Salamanca, bringing together professors and researchers in the field.

The I+D+i Building of the University of Salamanca hosted on 24-25 May the CTS-I EOI-Salamanca Conference. II International Seminar of the Social Studies of Science and Innovation. Experts in the field participating in this forum have tried to analyse various aspects of the social studies of science and technology (CTS studies). The research strategy in this field was defined during the working meetings, while open sessions were used to reveal new aspects in the field to the public.

The event was organised by the Institute for the Studies of Science and Technology (ECYT) of the University of Salamanca, along with the Organisation of Ibero-American States (OEI) for Education, Science and Culture, the CTS Group from the University of Oviedo, the ISCTE University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE-IUL), the University of Aveiro and the Institute of Knowledge Management, INGENIO (CSIC-UPV). The event brought together members from the university, Master’s programmes, professors and interested researchers, many of whom are currently pursuing, or have already received, a Doctorate in Logic and Philosophy of Science at the University of Salamanca.

The conference was attended by Juan Carlos Toscano Grimaldi, representative of OEI, and included various noteworthy presentations, one of which was the round table discussion on ‘Social perception and communication on science’, led by Carina Cortassa, Emilio Muñoz and Liliana Tavares de Oliveira; the plenary conference ‘Between green and white (with reflections  on how to demonstrate the history of our planet)’ by José Abel Flores Villarejo; and the round table on ‘Indicators of science and technology’, led by Irene López Navarro, Carlos García Figuerola, Miguel Ángel Quintanilla and María Manuel Borges.
