Project evaluates the potential of growing truffles in Salamanca

Scientists at the University of Salamanca determine the characteristics required to grow this fungus in the province.

Research from the University of Salamanca has evaluated the potential of growing truffles within the dehesa ecosystem in the province of Salamanca. Scientists have studied the possibility of two species, Tuber melanosporum and Tuber borchii, although the former – black truffle – has a much higher market value, and have identified the regions which would provide the species with a much stronger chance to thrive, and offer potential economic benefit.
