Salamanca receives almost three million euros for research

The Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness will allocate 2.8 million euros for research projects.

The University of Salamanca is to be congratulated and can feel very proud of the results obtained in the last call from the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO) for “Research Program focused on Societal Challenges” and the “Plan for the Promotion of Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research”.

With these two calls, researchers from our University have received funding for a total of 17 projects in the amount of 1.6 million euros for the “Challenges in Research” program, and another 16 projects for the “Research Promotion Program” with 1.2 million euros. These research projects are divided between Sciences and Humanities covering disciplines related to Economy, Law, Sciences and Letters. Additionally, three research centers in Salamanca have received funding to carry out their research. In first place is the Institute of Natural and Agrobiological Resources (IRNASA) which received 275.000 euros, followed by the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology for Cancer with 260,000 euros. In third place is the Center for Ultra Short and Ultra Intense Laser Pulses, which will receive 200,000 euros.
