The Nucleus Service for Research Support ended 2016 with 500 users and a surplus of €240,000

The Vice-Chancellor for Research and Knowledge Transfer of the University of Salamanca, Juan Manuel Corchado, and the Director of the Nucleus Service for Research Support, Julia Almeida, presented the results of Nucleus’ activity and impact for the year 2016.

Specifically, Nucleus closed the year 2016 with 500 users and a  surplus of €240,000. “These numbers are very positive, since Nucleus has maintained its level of activity in support of USAL research groups and other entities in research and diagnostics, despite having fewer resources”, Julia Almeida pointed out. She also highlighted the fact that “during 2016, Nucleus has provided approximately 25,000 analyses and other types of services in support of scientific research, training and teaching”.

These data are the result of the intense activity carried out by the different services comprising Nucleus, whose research is focused on three areas: Instrumental Techniques, Biological Resources, and the Area of Biomolecular Characterization, Image and Bioinformatics. For example, Nucleus’ Service of Cytometry “obtained samples from more than 800 patients, and attended to 90 people from 19 different countries in 2016, making this department an international benchmark in diagnostics and training”, Julia Almeida specified.
