The University and the City Council of Salamanca, together to attract scientific talent

The two institutions set up a program aimed at young researchers to lead research groups.

The University of Salamanca and the City Council convenes a program of Attraction of Scientific Talent. The call is aimed at young researchers (Principal Investigators) to join the system of Research and Development Salamanca, and lead research groups to establish new lines of research in the proposed areas.

It is about attracting, retaining and supporting scientific talent to the city of Salamanca under the sole criterion of scientific excellence. The project will be provided with a maximum amount of 510,000 euros for a duration of three years, and is open to researchers of any nationality.

Candidates must meet certain requirements such as having obtained the doctoral degree at least three years before the publication of this call. They should be young researchers with a promising track record in achievements related to their research field and stage of study, including outstanding publications (as lead author) in scientific, multidisciplinary and international journals, or in international journals of their respective fields of research. They should also provide a list of  presentations at renowned international congresses, obtained scholarships, prizes, etc.

The projects must be related to one of the following fields of research:

  • Agriculture and Biological Sciences
  • Cell Biology
  • Computer Science and Information Technology
  • Social Sciences
  • Physics and Astronomy
  • Engineering
  • Clinical research

The researchers will be hired by the Fundación Salamanca Ciudad de Cultura y Saberes, but the development of their functions can take place in any public research institution in Salamanca.
