The University of Salamanca hosts the third edition of “Design & Tech”

On March 17th and 18th, the third edition of Design & Tech was held in Salamanca. It is an event focused on design and technology, which has also been part of Google’s Women Techmakers’ Initiative on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

This edition has offered talks at a very high level thanks to Gema López Pérez, Professor of Graphic Design at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Salamanca and partner in La Merienda Studio; Raúl Álvarez González, a UX expert currently working at the London headquarters of ClusterSeven; Antonio Juan Sánchez, developer of the frontend in ElParking; Julio López Cruz, senior game artist at King, the video game company that created Candy Crush and other hit sagas; and Antonio de Dios, art director at the Herraiz Soto & Co agency in Barcelona.

More than 100 people have participated in the different activities scheduled throughout Friday and Saturday. In addition, three Salamanca startups have been able to enjoy a day’s work with Karina Ibarra and Silvia Calvet, experts in user experience certified by Google, and Felicidad García Sánchez, designer and organizer of Google Developers Group Salamanca, with the objective of resolving a concrete problem using the Design Sprint methodology developed by Google Ventures.

The closing of the event was attended by Juan Manuel Corchado, Vice-Chancellor of Research and KnowledgeTransfer of the University of Salamanca, and Andres Leonardo Martinez Ortiz, Program Developer Manager at Google.

Design & Tech Salamanca 2017 and the first Google Product Design Sprint in Salamanca were organized by the Google Developers Group Salamanca with the support of the GRIAL Research Group, the Master’s Degree in Graphic Design and Interface for new devices of the Pontifical University of Salamanca, the University of Salamanca, and Google.
