“There is already an entrepreneurial culture in Europe, now we have to create an ecosystem”

The European entrepreneurial event Startup Olé kicked off in Salamanca with the participation of Isidro Laso, director of Startup Europe, an initiative promoted by the European Commission.

The European entrepreneurial event Startup Olé was held in Salamanca 7-8 September, 2016,  where approximately 1,000 participants from 52 countries gathered with the aim of connecting young entrepreneurs, investors, business accelerators, universities and other participants that can promote innovative businesses.

Isidro Laso, director of Startup Europe, the name that encompasses the entrepreneurial-related initiatives promoted by the European Commission, held 30 meetings throughout these two days. His objective is to create the necessary networks to support European entrepreneurs. “Creating an entrepreneurial culture is very important and, in fact, it already exists among young people, perhaps out of need” he declared. “One good thing that has come about from the crisis is that people have become more entrepreneurial, and have realized that they do not need to wait for others to solve their problems. This is very positive because we need these people for the long-term advancement of Europe”.
