USAL acquires a high capacity system for the analysis of genetic variability

The University of Salamanca has presented a new high capacity system for analysing genetic variability in a single cell, acquired by the DNA Sequencing Service pertaining to the Nucleus Service for Research Support.

Participating in the press conference that took place in the I+D+I Building were Juan Manuel Corchado, Vice-Chancellor for Research and Knowledge Transfer; Julia Almeida, Director of the Nucleus Service for Research Support; Alberto Orfao, Head of the Area of Biomolecular Characterization, Imaging and Bioinformatics, and María Jara, the Technician responsible for the system.

The new resources, which comprise a high performance platform providing a unique service in Castile & Leon, were acquired thanks to a joint investment made by Spain’s Ministry for Economy and Competition (MINECO) /The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), which subsidized 80% of the total cost as a result of the call for aid for the acquisition of scientific and technical equipment, and the University of Salamanca. The joint contribution of both institutions came to €430,355.86.
