The new equipment has been incorporated to the Comparative Molecular Pathology Service of the Cancer Research Centre of Salamanca (CIC).
The University of Salamanca has presented the new Laser Microdissection Microscope (LMD), for the Comparative Molecular Pathology Service of the Cancer Research Centre of Salamanca (CIC). This equipment, already up and running, was acquired within the frame of the call for aid for acquisition of scientific-technical equipment of Spain’s Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO), which contributed 80% of the total investment of €295,047,61, the remaining amount having been contributed by USAL.
Attending the presentation were: Juan Manuel Corchado, Vice-Chancellor of Research and Knowledge Transfer; Eugenio Santos, Director of the Cancer Research Centre; Alberto Orfao, Director of the General Cytometry Service of the Cancer Research Centre, and Carmen García, Head of the Centre’s Comparative Molecular Pathology Service.
The Comparative Molecular Pathology Service of the Cancer Research Centre, as a research support service, acquired this new laser microscope with the intention of offering its use openly to the scientific community and to those clinical groups that request it. The importance of this equipment for researchers is evident once its applications are known, as they help improve biomedical research techniques.
