Strengthening of the “Libros Libres” (Free Books) campaign with the incorporation of four libraries

The Vice-Chancellor for Research and Knowledge Transfer of the University of Salamanca, Juan Manuel Corchado, the Director of USAL’s university press, Ediciones Universidad de Salamanca, Eduardo Azofra, the Head of the  Library Service, Marta de la Mano, and the Director of the Historical Library of the University of Salamanca, Margarita Becedas, are continuing with and strengthening the ‘Libros Libres’ campaign addressed to students and researchers at USAL, with the close collaboration of the library and publication services.

On this occasion the libraries of the Faculties of Language & Literature, Geography & History, Translation & Information Science, and the General Historical Library have joined this initiative. It should be recalled that the aim of this campaign is to publicize the books and scholarly journals published by USAL’s university press, at the same time promoting reading and the creation of a community of readers. The idea is based on the BookCrossing movement. A new feature is that it will be on Twitter through    @bibliotecasusal y @edicionesusal, as well as the hashtags  #leeEUSAL and #BookCrossing.

The campaign’s slogan for the rest of this academic year is: Elige lo que quieras, llévatelo y compártelo #leeEUSAL #BookCrossing (Choose what you want, take it, and share it #leeEUSAL #BookCrossing). The campaign begins with three simple steps, explained on a flysheet available in the equipped areas: 1. Choose the book you want; 2. Take it; 3. Share your reading experience with us on social media.

Marta de la Mano, Head of the Library, stated that she would like to boost the campaign, which perfectly fits the spirit of libraries as disseminators of knowledge and transmitters of the scholarly and scientific production of the university, and that it will be extended to the whole library network of the University of Salamanca.
